<br />
I'm currently working on a "Wicked Witch" image for an upcoming screen print. I'm going to try and keep it as the close as I can to the original book material. I feel a lot of W.W. Denslow's character design has been lost over the years.<br />
<br />
I'll be posting WIPs of the image as the days go on.<br />
<br />
After this is either Peter Pan or Alice in Wonderland....or maybe Little Nemo...<br />

<br />
For me the subject matter was easy.... Will Arnett aka Gob steals that show...so I decided to borrow from a old Houdini poster and place this "Magician Named Gob" with all his "props"<br />
<br />
Round one:<br />

This month I've participated in 5 art shows and now preparing for a <a href="http://www.facebook.com/saltcityurbanartcraftmarket">Art Festival</a> that's this weekend, always a lot of fun and great company.....<br />
<br />
After that it's smooth sailing....for about a week. Then the printing of Le Style Moderne's "Lovely Ladies" is underway! Amazing art by Camilla d'Errico, Conrad Roset, Chamo San, Brian Ewing, and many more! <br />
<br />
<br />
Pictures of all the art next week. Here's some teasers in the mean time. Shows include, "Bad Dads" (<a href="http://spoke-art.com/">Spokeart</a>), QVC3 (Spokeart), Monster Party (<a href="http://www.blogger.com/www.p1sf.com/2011/10/monster-show-preview">Project1</a>), Promise Breakers (Syracuse), and Too Many Bills (<a href="http://nineteeneightyeight.com/">Gallery 1988</a>). <br />

This is one of my favorite shows ever. Check out their <a href="http://nineteeneightyeight.com/collections/garbage-pail-kids-prints?page=2"> site</a> to see some amazing art from the show! <br />
<br />
My print is similar to the GPK Over Sized Cards from 86, right down to the "Certificate" back and the sticker front....but these ones are re-adhesive. Big thanks to my printer Brian for making this happen.<br />

Garbage Pail Kids...Boglins...now it's Madballs. <br />
<br />
I also was checking out Illustration Friday and saw that the topic of the week was "Swell". Swell as in swelling? As in swelling so bad your eye popped out? Enter Slobulus. <br />

This was a fun image to do and I think I'll be drawing more in the future. <br />

<br />
Over the past couple of weeks I've drawn Pee Wee for Gallery 1988's "I Know You Art, But What Am I?" show, as well as a Garbage Pail Kid for another exhibition for that gallery and a poster for a local "Horror and Sci Fi Garage Sale". <br />
<br />

GPK=in hiding......<br />

<br />
<br />
All the projects have been a lot of fun...Currently, I'm designing the back card of "Cut-Up Carmen" and have full intentions of making a 5x7 giant reusable sticker card of him as a print for the show. <br />
<br />
Thanks,<br />

"Le Style Moderne" has been in the works since the start of the new year, and now I'm happy to announce, my company's first book "Atlas 2" is complete. <br />
<br />
A 32 page, little handmade book of goodness, Atlas 2 features 20 artist from 10 countries. I've been extremely fortunate with the phenomenal talent I was able to get in this collection of illustrators. <br />
<br />
The list includes:<br />
<br />
Ludovic Jasqz, Rudy Faber, Joy Chokchai, Sashiko Yuen, Ling Tang, Joey Potts, Pac23, Conrad Roset, Pawel Piekarski, Mansur, Lukas Brezak, Stuntkid, Natalia Pierandrei, Kraken, Michal Tarka, Charmaine Olivia, Killer Napkins, Devin McGrath, Amanda Grazini, Alexandre Wagner, and Cayetano Valenzuela<br />
<br />
<br />
Each book includes two letterpress prints, signed by artists Ling Tang and Cayetano Valenzuela.<br />
<br />
Big up to <a href="http://omgposters.com/2011/05/25/atlas-2-handmade-art-book/">Omgposters</a> to helping me get the word out. <br />
<br />
I'm also extremely excited to see Atlas 2 get reviewed in a national magazine....but I'll talk more about that next time! <br />
<br />
<a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view&current=le_style_moderne_rudy_faber.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/le_style_moderne_rudy_faber.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br />
<br />
To purchase Atlas 2, check out my new <a href="http://lestylemoderne.bigcartel.com/">store</a><br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Circus Time!<br />
<a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view&current=wonders_of_a_forgotten_past45_small.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/wonders_of_a_forgotten_past45_small.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br />
<br />
<br />
July 1st will be here before I know it. Cayetano and I are hard at work to make "Wonders of a Forgotten Past" Syracuse's Art Show of the Year. It'll be even easier due to special musical guest: The Scarlet Ending. <br />
<br />
<br />
<iframe width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0pl0UbZD6vo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Oh did I mentioned Cayetano's hellbent on making this a sensory overload? The gallery will not only have illustrations by us, great music but painted Circus signs everywhere! <br />
<br />
And finally, I'm going to be in SpokeArt's Quentin Vs Coen. I placed a "sneak peek" in various places online, but here it is in it's entirety:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view&current=soggy_bottom_boys_final_small.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/soggy_bottom_boys_final_small.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br />
<br />
Each print is signed and numbered (ed. of 30), printed digitally with Archival Ink on Archival Velvet Cotton Rag Paper for Sixty Clams. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I just added a follow button to the blog (at the bottom). Feel free to click away. I'll be having some giveaways for blog "followers" very soon. <br />

I've received all the letterpress images and now am waiting to receive the printed book interiors to have them hand-stitched. As long as nothing changes, these books will be completely finished by Mid-May.<br />

In other news, I've been creating a Sideshow themed rag doll collectable, the first being "The Elephantman", I want to thank Texas Clothing for helping my idea become a reality. Now just to get them sewn. <br />

Not only was the weather about 40 degrees warmer than back home, I was embraced with open arms, this city truly lovers the arts. I had an action packed week of Wondercon, Art Shows, China Town, great food, walking the piers, and spending quarters in a victorian arcade.....<br />

Artifact is opening it's doors April first with a Wondercon after party featuring Jim Mahfood, Camilla D'errico,Anthony Ausgang, N8 Van Dyke, Adam Isaac Jackson, Greg Peltz (Pixar), Sol Sallee and myself. <br />
Other than that, I'm publishing the second Atlas book, which is full of outstanding art. I'll be posting more details on that next month. <br />

Sometimes artist debate too long or put things on the back burner. I decided to not second guess myself this week and start dropping emails.<br /><br />Needless to say this week I got on some amazing sites that I love and check out regularly. <br /><br />First off a big up to <a href="http://www.cgunit.net/2010/11/isaac-bidwell.html">CGUNIT</a>. I go to this site to check out all sorts of work by both artist I know and love, to finding new talent.<br /><br />Next was <a href="http://www.notcot.org/post/36301/">Notcot.org</a>. I'm not even going to get into how great this site is. Just check it out.<br /><br />And I finally got on over at <a href="http://omgposters.com/2010/11/30/art-prints-by-isaac-bidwell/">OMGposters</a>. Almost any print I've ever purchased, I learned about through this site. I've been a fan and commenter for years now.<br /><br /><br />Due to these 3 sites, I got mentioned on dozens of some including <a href="http://www.whokilledbambi.co.uk/2010/11/isaac-bidwell/">WhoKilledBambi</a> and <a href="http://nothingtonobody.com/2010/11/23/isaac-bidwell-man-of-many-talents/">Nothingtonobody</a><br /><br />My computer is my friend.<br /><br /><br />On other news, gearing up for a show in Utica. Getting Screenprints situated and creating a bunch of new art. <br /><br /><br />Oh and meeting with a new printer in just a few minutes. I'll be able to print on.....CANVAS!<br /><br />Rock and Rule.Isaac Bidwellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02868024145436387012noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2059839176733811744.post-16801289283422054422010-11-25T11:37:00.000-05:002010-11-25T11:41:52.967-05:00Corvus Mortem (Death Crow) Print for sale.<a href="http://www.society6.com/studio/isaacbidwell" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/corvusmortem.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br /><br />My newest print Corvus Mortem is up for sale on Society6. Besides being sick for most of it, I've been able to get some work done. First off today I was fortunate enough to get a plug over at <a href="http://www.cgunit.net/">cgunit.com</a>, an amazing site that showcases illustrators from all over the world. <br /><br />I also had a brief mention over at<a href="http://www.fantagraphics.com/index.php?option=com_myblog&show=Things-to-See-11-8-10-roundup.html&Itemid=113"> fantagraphics</a> books that mentioned my Usagi <a href="http://repaneled.blogspot.com/2010/11/isaac-bidwell-repanels-stan-sakais.html">Repaneled</a> illo. <br /><br /><br />And finally, one of the co-founders of Society6 started a conversation with me as to why I don't sell prints on there site. Truth is, I've always printed and sold my own prints, but the overhead is outrageous. On top of that, the only thing I've ever really tried to push on the internet was the <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Kp6oS4prObk/SycUWtfXkZI/AAAAAAAAAgo/uVVAqE3bD70/s1600-h/Picture+6.jpg">Atlas artbooks</a> Caytano and Myself published last year (and that got on Notcot) <br /><br />So after thinking about it, I'm happy to say this friday I'm launching a variety of illustrations for print (both new and old) at <a href="http://www.society6.com/isaacbidwell">Society6</a>. The art will be printed on "Gallery quality GiclĂ©e print on natural white, matte, ultra smooth, 100% cotton rag, acid and lignin free archival paper", and cost less than my previous large prints. <br /><br />Here's a preview of what's dropping. (just a side note, my web address will not be on the prints...)<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view&current=liontamer.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/liontamer.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view&current=spacebaby-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/spacebaby-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view&current=spacebaby3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/spacebaby3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view&current=zombieprint.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/zombieprint.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view&current=oz-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/oz-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view&current=avatar.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/avatar.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br /><br />I'm also placing my "Prom Queen" image Friday and others as the weeks progress to Christmas. <br /><br />After that, I plan on launching a newly designed website with giveaways to boot. <br /><br /><br />Oh yeah, and I'm about to start screen printing again :)<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view&current=best_friends_forvever_55.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/best_friends_forvever_55.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>Isaac Bidwellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02868024145436387012noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2059839176733811744.post-61089772980017009842010-11-04T19:29:00.000-04:002010-11-04T19:38:12.081-04:00Ah, the fur.I've been busy with figure drawing, comic creator meetings and going to a writing circle, which is why I haven't posted in a few weeks. <br /><br />This week my art was picked for the <a href="paneled.blogspot.com">Repaneled</a> site. <br /><br />I redrew Usagi in my more realistic style. I ran into some issues with defining lines, largely due to the size of the image. I used 3px. inking it on my Wacom. The image would take up most of a wall. Needless to say, I wanted to be done with it and move on.....folks seem to enjoy it though.<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view¤t=usagi_small.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/usagi_small.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br />Also I've started a short 4-5 page comic, again in the large format. I've recently been introduced to the art of Jeremy Bastian and feel I need to do crazy detail. <br /><br />This is part of the image.... <br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view¤t=page155.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/page155.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>Isaac Bidwellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02868024145436387012noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2059839176733811744.post-55844314949933646472010-10-14T21:53:00.001-04:002010-10-14T22:14:44.382-04:00Honey...I'm late.....Well just a couple days. More details next week on that. <br /><br /><br />And speaking of anatomy, here's some images from my first figure drawing class in over 4 years....<br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view¤t=figure3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/figure3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view¤t=figure2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/figure2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view¤t=figure.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/figure.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br /><br />Here's some images I'm currently working on too....<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view¤t=bear-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/bear-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view¤t=jontar.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/jontar.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Thanks all and see you Monday. <br /><br />Ps. Just putting the finale touches on these to brig to NYC comic con.<br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view¤t=Picture6.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/Picture6.png" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view¤t=Picture7-1.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/Picture7-1.png" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br />Oh here's a design I did for a band. Sadly I just learned they're breaking up. Maybe I'll get rid of the text and make prints of just the art?<br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view¤t=tshirtfinale25.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/tshirtfinale25.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br />Also I can't figure out how to get the comment box to show. I put in some html in the editing months ago to hide it, but now can't find it..... Maybe a rework of the blog and website will solve that issue? <br /><br /><br />Time will tell. <br />I'll be back in a week with Con pictures. :)<br /><br /><br />Sites of the week....<br /><br /><br /><a href="www.surfthechannel.com">surfthechannel.com</a> = Mad Men!!!!!<br /><br /><a href="http://www.Hulu.com">Hulu.com</a> = 30 Rock<br /><br /><a href="http://www.facebook.com/isaacbidwell">Facebook</a> = distraction from working!Isaac Bidwellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02868024145436387012noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2059839176733811744.post-4189204270979640482010-09-27T00:40:00.000-04:002010-09-27T01:08:33.492-04:00I'm back...Time to be a networking whore. I've been laying low working so much, I haven't had time to update my blog or site. Well, that's changing. My goal is to post every Monday with new work, links to cool sites and random thoughts... Also I'm going to allow comments on my post for the first time. We'll see how that goes.<br /><br /><br />This first "new and improved", features work from my upcoming comic <span style="font-weight:bold;">Harland</span>. Recently I've been busting my ass to get 8 pages done in time for NYC Comic Con. The goal is to have a freebie handout, to give to publishers, artists,writers and anyone hip to the scene. Within it, I'll have the Harland 8 pages, some of my Fabulous Steins work, and a couple of pin-ups.<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/?action=view¤t=Picture11-2.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/Picture11-2.png" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/?action=view¤t=Picture10.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/Picture10.png" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/?action=view¤t=page6.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/page6.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view¤t=bob3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/bob3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/?action=view¤t=the_rarebit.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/the_rarebit.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><br /><div><br /></div>Later this week, I'm going to start sample pages of a fantasy comic I've been roughing out with artist Chris Kirby with intensions to show as well.<br /><br /><br /><br />Other than that, here's some cool shit to check out-<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://www.indiespinnerrack.blogspot.com/">http://indiespinnerrack.blogspot.com/</a><br />- a great podcast to hear what's cool in the indie comic scene. if you want to find comics outside the "superhero" norm, give it a listen.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.cvcomics.com/artandstory/">http://www.cvcomics.com/artandstory/</a><br />-i cannot stress this enough, if you want to draw or write comics, this is the podcast to listen to. i listen to these guys almost every time i'm working and learn so much. this will change the way you work and/or read comics<br /><br /><a href="http://www.bandjob.com/">bandjob.com<br /></a><br />-this is a great site for band art. it's like the portfolio site behance.net, but for music artists.<br /><br /><a href="http://twitter.com/isaacbidwell">twitter.com/isaacbidwell</a><br />-i joined the devil. after about two years of putting it off, i joined twitter....and i must admit, i feel kinda lame getting into it so late, so please follow me and let me feel cool. :)<br /><br /><br />See you in a week!Isaac Bidwellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02868024145436387012noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2059839176733811744.post-88684130444185381802010-08-10T10:28:00.001-04:002010-08-10T11:09:27.602-04:00The past couple of months....<a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/?action=view¤t=100_1463.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/100_1463.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/?action=view¤t=100_1704.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/100_1704.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/?action=view¤t=100_1717.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/100_1717.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/?action=view¤t=100_1617.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/100_1617.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/?action=view¤t=100_1670.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/100_1670.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/?action=view¤t=100_1558.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/100_1558.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/?action=view¤t=100_1727.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/100_1727.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a><br /><a href="http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/?action=view¤t=100_1741.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b378/I-sac/The%20art/100_1741.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>Isaac Bidwellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02868024145436387012noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2059839176733811744.post-75720380194488523482010-05-21T17:39:00.000-04:002010-05-21T17:41:16.151-04:00New site is almost done...Been working with wix.com to build a new site. This is a tribute to the cartoonist Hirschfeld. I got the image all pieced together and am beginning the digital fun now. I had a couple of inquires about a print of this, and I'm pretty sure it's going to happen. I really like society 6's printing quality, and will most likely go through them.Isaac Bidwellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02868024145436387012noreply@blogger.com0
