I'm currently working on a "Wicked Witch" image for an upcoming screen print. I'm going to try and keep it as the close as I can to the original book material. I feel a lot of W.W. Denslow's character design has been lost over the years.

 I'll be posting WIPs of the image as the days go on.

 After this is either Peter Pan or Alice in Wonderland....or maybe Little Nemo...

A Magician Named Gob

I'm currently working on an image for Gallery 1988's "Arrested Development" artshow.

 For me the subject matter was easy.... Will Arnett aka Gob steals that show...so I decided to borrow from a old Houdini poster and place this "Magician Named Gob" with all his "props"

Busy Busy Busy. This month I've participated in 5 art shows and now preparing for a Art Festival that's this weekend, always a lot of fun and great company.....

After that it's smooth sailing....for about a week. Then the printing of Le Style Moderne's "Lovely Ladies" is underway! Amazing art by Camilla d'Errico, Conrad Roset, Chamo San, Brian Ewing, and many more!

My contribution to Gallery 1988's Garbage Pail Kid Show is out! This is one of my favorite shows ever. Check out their site to see some amazing art from the show!

My print is similar to the GPK Over Sized Cards from 86, right down to the "Certificate" back and the sticker front....but these ones are re-adhesive. Big thanks to my printer Brian for making this happen.

MadBalls Foo!

Recently I've obsessing with 80s goodies. Garbage Pail Kids...Boglins...now it's Madballs.

I also was checking out Illustration Friday and saw that the topic of the week was "Swell". Swell as in swelling? As in swelling so bad your eye popped out? Enter Slobulus.



This was a fun image to do and I think I'll be drawing more in the future.

Got that good old 80's nostalgia going on....

I've been hard at work the past couple of months on a bunch of shows and have been neglecting my blog a bit, so my apologies to anyone who cares.

Over the past couple of weeks I've drawn Pee Wee for Gallery 1988's "I Know You Art, But What Am I?" show, as well as a Garbage Pail Kid for another exhibition for that gallery and a poster for a local "Horror and Sci Fi Garage Sale".

All the projects have been a lot of fun...Currently, I'm designing the back card of "Cut-Up Carmen" and have full intentions of making a 5x7 giant reusable sticker card of him as a print for the show.

Le Style Moderne, Atlas 2, Quentin Vs Coen, Wonders of a Forgotten Past, and the Elephant Man

As some of you may know, I've been wanting to start a publishing company for some time and now that time is here. "Le Style Moderne" has been in the works since the start of the new year, and now I'm happy to announce, my company's first book "Atlas 2" is complete.

A 32 page, little handmade book of goodness, Atlas 2 features 20 artist from 10 countries. I've been extremely fortunate with the phenomenal talent I was able to get in this collection of illustrators.

The list includes:

Ludovic Jasqz, Rudy Faber, Joy Chokchai, Sashiko Yuen, Ling Tang, Joey Potts, Pac23, Conrad Roset, Pawel Piekarski, Mansur, Lukas Brezak, Stuntkid, Natalia Pierandrei, Kraken, Michal Tarka, Charmaine Olivia, Killer Napkins, Devin McGrath, Amanda Grazini, Alexandre Wagner, and Cayetano Valenzuela


Each book includes two letterpress prints, signed by artists Ling Tang and Cayetano Valenzuela.

Circus Time!



July 1st will be here before I know it. Cayetano and I are hard at work to make "Wonders of a Forgotten Past" Syracuse's Art Show of the Year. It'll be even easier due to special musical guest: The Scarlet Ending.






Oh did I mentioned Cayetano's hellbent on making this a sensory overload? The gallery will not only have illustrations by us, great music but painted Circus signs everywhere!

And finally, I'm going to be in SpokeArt's Quentin Vs Coen. I placed a "sneak peek" in various places online, but here it is in it's entirety:

A product kind of week...

Finally after months of planning Atlas II (a collective artbook I'm organizing and producing) is almost complete. I've received all the letterpress images and now am waiting to receive the printed book interiors to have them hand-stitched. As long as nothing changes, these books will be completely finished by Mid-May.






In other news, I've been creating a Sideshow themed rag doll collectable, the first being "The Elephantman", I want to thank Texas Clothing for helping my idea become a reality. Now just to get them sewn.

Rock and Rule

San Francisco was great. Not only was the weather about 40 degrees warmer than back home, I was embraced with open arms, this city truly lovers the arts. I had an action packed week of Wondercon, Art Shows, China Town, great food, walking the piers, and spending quarters in a victorian arcade.....






Big thanks to Cayetano for flying out with me for a dudes week, Laura for showing us around, Mike & co. over at Artifact Gallery for making my first time to Cali a memorable one, and all the amazing artists and hip locals I met, thanks again.


You know I like Cali so much maybe I'll be out in L.A. next, more on that later...

I'm going going, back back to, Cali Cali...

Well, I'm off to San Fran in just a few days, for the first art show on the west coast. Artifact is opening it's doors April first with a Wondercon after party featuring Jim Mahfood, Camilla D'errico,Anthony Ausgang, N8 Van Dyke, Adam Isaac Jackson, Greg Peltz (Pixar), Sol Sallee and myself. I'm pretty pumped to be showing with so many talented illustrators.

Also after years of talking about doing a Circus themed show, I'm pleased to announce Cayetano and I will be having an art show at Eve Galleria July 1st. We have very BIG plans for this show and you'll want to check it out if you're in Syracuse around that time.....

Other than that, I'm publishing the second Atlas book, which is full of outstanding art. I'll be posting more details on that next month.

A little handmade goodness...

I had sometime to play around on some hand drawn images..this worked out nicely with Conrad Roset's contest


Conrad is an outstanding illustrator that paints beautiful women. See why I'd be interested? On top of the Conrad is going to have art featured in Atlas Book 2, showcasing yet another collect of amazing artists.


Other than that, I haven't posted in a bit, I have a bunch of great things coming up, but details on that later.

And that's what we call a good week.

Been running around a little this week.

I'm at the point where I really want to start getting my work out there. Sometimes artist debate too long or put things on the back burner. I decided to not second guess myself this week and start dropping emails.

Needless to say this week I got on some amazing sites that I love and check out regularly.

First off a big up to CGUNIT. I go to this site to check out all sorts of work by both artist I know and love, to finding new talent.

Next was Notcot.org. I'm not even going to get into how great this site is. Just check it out.

And I finally got on over at OMGposters. Almost any print I've ever purchased, I learned about through this site. I've been a fan and commenter for years now.


Due to these 3 sites, I got mentioned on dozens of some including WhoKilledBambi and Nothingtonobody

My computer is my friend.


On other news, gearing up for a show in Utica. Getting Screenprints situated and creating a bunch of new art.


Oh and meeting with a new printer in just a few minutes. I'll be able to print on.....CANVAS!

Happy Turkey Day

Been a fun couple of weeks. Besides being sick for most of it, I've been able to get some work done. First off today I was fortunate enough to get a plug over at cgunit.com, an amazing site that showcases illustrators from all over the world.

I also had a brief mention over at fantagraphics books that mentioned my Usagi Repaneled illo.


And finally, one of the co-founders of Society6 started a conversation with me as to why I don't sell prints on there site. Truth is, I've always printed and sold my own prints, but the overhead is outrageous. On top of that, the only thing I've ever really tried to push on the internet was the Atlas artbooks Caytano and Myself published last year (and that got on Notcot)

So after thinking about it, I'm happy to say this friday I'm launching a variety of illustrations for print (both new and old) at Society6. The art will be printed on "Gallery quality Giclée print on natural white, matte, ultra smooth, 100% cotton rag, acid and lignin free archival paper", and cost less than my previous large prints.

I'm also placing my "Prom Queen" image Friday and others as the weeks progress to Christmas.

After that, I plan on launching a newly designed website with giveaways to boot.


Oh yeah, and I'm about to start screen printing again :)

Ah, the fur.

I've been busy with figure drawing, comic creator meetings and going to a writing circle, which is why I haven't posted in a few weeks.

This week my art was picked for the Repaneled site.

I redrew Usagi in my more realistic style. I ran into some issues with defining lines, largely due to the size of the image. I used 3px. inking it on my Wacom. The image would take up most of a wall. Needless to say, I wanted to be done with it and move on.....folks seem to enjoy it though.




Also I've started a short 4-5 page comic, again in the large format. I've recently been introduced to the art of Jeremy Bastian and feel I need to do crazy detail.

Honey...I'm late.....

Well just a couple days. Sorry about that dear friends.


I had a blast hanging out with my NYC peeps and rocking Comic Con. I heard Saturday sold out and had over 78,000 guests....Good thing I waited until Sunday (50% off graphic novels too!)










So after a couple of weeks of comic illustrating, I ventured out to the show floor, art in hand and smile on my face. I heard that when we talk to someone, people tend to hear the negatives louder than the positives. I talked to various editors and artists and sadly the negatives were booming. I suppose it beats everyone kissing my ass, saying how amazing my work is. I'm taking every critique into consideration and will be a stronger artist because of it.


On a positive note, one publisher seemed extremely interested in my work and want me to send them my comic once it's completed. Boo-ya.


Also, I may have art over on a super rad comic podcast. I'll hopefully know soon.



Due to having my ego crushed at Comic Con, I started a "Creative Bootcamp". Within my "program" I'll be working on various aspects of the comic making process including such issues as anatomy, inking, story building and character development. More details next week.
